brief study and conclusion on reality of the dreams..

I have always been amazed by my dreams, how alive they felt. I am spellbound by the thought that my dreams consists of plots and sub plots much like in a novel that is very well written. They usually have logic and reasoning parts behind the dialogues of faceless characters.

For a few seconds after I wake up, I can remember some parts of different dreams. If i don't think about any one part over and over again, all of my precious references to my dreams i just had would vanish into thin air. That is truly sad. If i do think about them, I guess they shift tent to my long term memory, like in one case, i was running on top of a slanting roof trying to balance and not fall. Every bit of it felt like real, the balancing part, the rush when i was tilting dangerously to one side.

This confirms that the 'makings' of a dream gets only the temporary memory and not the privilege of short or long term. This happens when you are awake too. Take a case of doing more than one thing at one time, one work you are most interested in and the other maybe just a song or someone talking. When you stop your main work, you can only remember the last few words in that song or the last few words of the person.

While only temporary memory is available, all the other parts of the brain are available at the dream's disposal and it makes efficient use of them all to make up a spectacular movie of its own. This differs starkly from the claim that dreams have only people we know, voices we heard, things we saw. This also means using the information of a dream, one can create a checklist of which functions of the brain are becoming predominant or being used more.

I think the dreams are precursors to the person we will become.

short story I

It was a bright morning. All the children were crowding around grandpa and pestering him to tell a story. "Grandpa, grandpa, grandwa, story, story, please tell us a story..". Grandpa loved these children more than himself. Since the breakfast plates were all clean after eating and the milk glasses were fully empty, grandpa now has to fulfill his end of the deal, that is to tell a story.

So they all sat down on the cool green grass which was freshly mown, under the shadow of a huge tree in their garden. It was very cool and comfortable, like when you suddenly come into the shadow from under the sun. Grandpa began..

HA!. One evening, when i was mowing this grass, a strange looking fellow came in and said

'Hello there old man. I am a journeyman travelling by foot. I have traveled great distances across many countries. I have crossed many rivers, climbed many mountains. I have seen many types of people, short ones, tall ones, some taller than that, thin people, fat people, some fatter than that, happy people, angry people, some angrier than that. I am very tired now after walking all day. Do you have a room for me to stay for tonight? Can you provide some food for my hungry stomach?'.

I said,

'My friend, you are welcome to stay and eat in my home. Lets go inside.'

So we sat down to eat our dinner at the table. Then i noticed a bracelet around his wrist. It had a coin that was very old looking, rusted and beautiful. It had a mountain and river on one side that i was able to see. Being curious about the coin, i said,

'The coin in your bracelet is beautiful. Does it have a story?'

The traveler said,

'Sure it does have a story. Every souvenir i have has a story. I collect souvenirs so they will remind me of the many places i go. This bracelet was actually a necklace of my dog. I loved my dog very much and his name was Ego. Ego was very fond of me too. He likes to be around me, barked and jumped at anything that moved, but he would not listen to me always. I used to be with my dog all day and he slept with me in my bed. We did everything together.

I thought we were inseparable, but one day, he got sick and in few weeks he died. I felt lonely and was afraid of everything in my life because there was no Ego in my life anymore wherever i go, whatever i do.

Then i decided i should know more about this world and about myself. Without Ego, i felt like i needed to travel. This is the story'

I said thank you for a great story and the traveler left the next morning to continue his journey in life. Thus the story ends my dear children.

google redesign..

Just a short note on the changes in google's websites like google.com, gmail, youtube, reader, blogger and documents..i know there are other services too, but these are the ones i use..mostly..

The 'new look' was given as a choice in gmail while my youtube home is changed forever. I love the new changes to start with. The option to change the density of the gmail page content is good. I can even change easily the number of emails seen in my inbox between 5, 10, 25, 50. This is fantastic, easy to use. The themes to gmail also are great additions. I didn't really want to try the Priority Inbox at first, but with this new look i gave it a try and i don't want to go back to my good old inbox.

One thing i am not happy about is the youtube logo. I am talking about the logo on the browser tab. Somehow it feels like, i dont know..i am sure i saw something like that on a news website. I WANT my old logo back on browser tab. Part of my 'youtube experience' lies there.. :)

There is one bold change according to me to all of these websites. Greying the background. I like it. I love it. It feels more comfortable to my eyes. Some user comments were like, 'ohh..it is so dull'..i am sure all these people will get over it.

Wish you a great day..
